Summer 2010

Students from the Fort Peck Assiniboine and Sioux Indian Reservation in Montana attended IPP in August 2010. We provided participants with experiences and information that will equip them to make wise personal, academic, financial, and career decisions now and in the future. Students toured Washington, DC and New York City; visited college campuses to learn about the college admissions process; visited museums, monuments, and various institutions; and met with professionals in a wide range of career fields to learn what it takes to be successful in specific jobs.

Here are a few of the things participants had to say about the IPP experience at the conclusion of the program:

“It makes you want to do something in this world…to become successful.”

“This trip made me want to go to college and not give up…to finish.”

“It was interesting to learn about what attorneys do for the Tribes.”

“This program gave us an understanding of how to become good leaders.”

“I have a different outlook on things now…I’ll make better choices this school year.”

This program made me see the light.  I’m going to go back to the reservation and give up my bad habits…maybe I can be a better role model for my brothers and sisters.
